What happens when an eighth-grade science teacher quits her job to become a cookie decorator full-time? What do you expect? Adorable cookies! Oh…and another poor, unaware husband becomes a Cookie Widower. But that’s a different Blog.
You’ll want to watch as my friend, Amy of Clough’D9 Cookies (did I say that she is creative?), shows us how to create woodland fox cookies using a bell cookie cutter.
Hi! Hello! I’m Amy from Clough’D9 Cookies. Callye asked if I would write a guest post for her blog. I knew that I wanted to create a design involving repurposing cutters. Callye was the first person to inspire me to use cutters differently. I tried to use the current woodland theme.
How about repurposing the bell cutter into a woodland fox? You can make it with or without a scarlet!
You will first need a bell cutter. As long as the bell cutter has a clapper, it will work. The clapper does not need to be in the middle of the base. Having both kinds of bells on your plate can be a great way to add variety! To make small triangles, you’ll need a cutter, such as the tip of an ordinary straight tree cutter.
The clapper can change the appearance of the fox. It’s time to make the fox.
Do you think your fox needs a scarf for the cold winter months? You can make a scarf with the bell cutter! The cookies are now ready to be decorated. For the steps below, I used a royal icing that lasted 18-20 seconds. It’s not necessary to wait until one section is dry before you pipe the next. But you can, if you wish!
NOTE: If the clapper you are using is not centered, make sure to adjust the size of the white area of the face. If your clapper swings to the right, then make the white section on the left bigger. See the example in the image earlier in the post.
Let the icing set for an hour or more after you’ve decorated the basic fox. Then, add the details. Royal icing of piping consistency in matching colors is used to add the details. Does your fox wear a scarf or hat? It’s easy to decorate! You can use icing of 18-20 seconds consistency for the scarf’s fringe. Your woodland fox will be ready to celebrate the holidays! This design can be used for many other things, such as a “You’re Foxy” Valentine’s collection or a woodland-themed baby shower.
