Pardner, saddle up! You’ll need to brush up on your cookie decorating techniques for a hoedown unlike any other. This cowgirl cookie tray is perfect for adding a little Wild West charm to any bachelorette party.

If you are a novice or an experienced buckaroo in the kitchen, this tutorial will guide you through the steps of making adorable cowboy boots and hat cookies with royal icing. Grab your cookie cutters, and let’s create a centerpiece that every cowgirl would love.

Set of Cowgirl Hat and Boots Platter Cutter

This Cowboy Hat & Boot Cookie Cutter Set is new to our shop. This set contains three cookie cutters, including a hat for a cowboy, a boot for a cowboy, and a circle in the middle. All three cookie cutters can be purchased together or as a two-piece without the circle cutter.

This is the same circle cutter used in my Platter sets like this Snowflake Set, spiral Platter, and floral wreath.

Two sizes are available. The Platter is arranged in the picture as a plate.

In this tutorial, I will be decorating the Large size.

Cookie Templates for Cowboy Cookie Platter Set

To make decorating easier, I created a PDF template for each of the new designs in the platter cookie cutters, including the cowboy set.

For those without a projector, follow the steps below by tracing the design onto the cookie with an edible food marker. If you don’t have a projector handy, trace the design on the cookie using an edible food marker.

Cookie Decorating Process

You will need these colors to make the cowgirl cookies:

I used two parts of Wilton Rose and one part of Americolor Ivory to make the pink icing.

I used Americolor bright white.

Step 1

First, flood the entire cookie with the light pink icing. Allow the icing to set for 15 minutes.

Add the dark pink hatband and white star details.

Step 2

Add the details to the cookie as shown.

Step 3

Fill in the main boot section of the cookie with medium pink icing. Allow this icing to set for approximately 15 minutes.

Fill in the upper band and heel section with dark pink icing.

Step 4

As shown, add the final details, like the white star and the tab detail at the top.

Step 5

Start by covering the entire cookie in light pink icing. This icing must be allowed to dry completely.

You can find a new cookie stencil in the shop that you can use to create the message. You can apply the stencil to the cookie by swiping thick royal icing in dark pink. This video shows you how I did it.

Cowgirl Cookie Platter Video Tutorial

This time-lapse video below summarizes the steps I took.

The final cookie platter is shown. This entire Platter took 11 cookies to create: 5 hats and five boots plus one circle cookie in the center.

The large version is 12″. Dollar Tree’s 12″ pizza trays are perfect for the tray. These are sturdy and cheap to transport around.

Yeehaw! Now you know how to create a cookie platter with a cowgirl theme for the bachelorette’s send-off. You can decorate these cookies in just two easy steps, whether you are an experienced baker or a beginner. These cookies are ready to go on a trailblazing adventure with a couple of fun cowboy boots and hats! Visit our cookie-cutter store for more inspiration on how to improve your baking. There are many cookie cutters available for creating confectionary masterpieces.
