Valentine’s Day presents the perfect opportunity to give someone you love some delicious chocolate. Chocolate makes any occasion sweeter, whether you are celebrating with your favorite Valentine, with a brand new one, or with a group of your closest friends. You can find some delicious chocolates at your local Chocolatier. In the world of chocolate, quality and quantity are rarely synonymous. You’re better off buying a small box of fine chocolate rather than a large box of mass-produced chocolate or a bean-to-bar chocolate bar of superior quality than a candy bar of inferior quality. We found some unique creations while surfing the internet.
The Chocolate Lab
This beautiful Diamond Hearts Collection, made by Dallas Southcott in Calgary, Alberta, features their signature caramels inside a dark chocolate shell. The flavors of the caramels include vanilla, raspberry, and cinnamon.
Letterpress chocolate
Letterpress Chocolate has created a special edition raspberry white chocolate bar to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The sweetness of white chocolate and the tartness of raspberries go together beautifully. And look at that gorgeous pink color!
Gem Chocolates
Who wouldn’t like to kiss these two frogs from Vancouver’s Gem Chocolates when it comes to kissing frogs? Glenn Knowles, our graduate, does a great job with his chocolate figures. We always look forward to what we’ll come up with for each holiday.
Norman Love Confections
Norman Love has been a chocolatier since 2001. He was, in fact, the first person to be named into the Dessert Professional Magazine Hall of Fame. This classic 25-piece box in heart shape is sure to delight anyone on your gift list. This box contains all 10 of their most popular 2016 Valentine’s Day flavors. The flavors include “5 spices”: Asian five spices in a milk-chocolate center and “Muscadine,” a dark milk chocolate truffle with orange liqueur infused and a dark chocolate shell.
Roselen Chocolatier
You know how much we love the work of Giorgio Demarini, a graduate of Roselen Chocolatier. His talent is evident in his creativity and attention to detail in his designs. These are then beautifully executed into his chocolates. It’s no surprise that he was trained as a designer. Valentine’s Day collection is not to be missed. Giorgio’s Heart Bonbons are strawberry marzipan, blueberry, and raspberry bonbon.
Soma Chocolatemaker
Toronto’s Soma Chocolatemaker brought back its creative Valentine Tiffin box this year. They call it “an edible poem in four verses.” Mumbai’s tiffins are the lunches that people bring to work each Day. You can read about the history of the tiffin in Soma’s blog. The tiffin boxes at Soma are full of delicious creations. Layer 1 includes sweet and tart cherries dipped in milk and dark chocolate. The second layer is a collection of truffles, including the whipped honey-butter cloud and Damask Rose truffle. Layer 3 is “Milk Old School Heart,” a chocolate that was made in the olden days. The cocoa beans, whole cane crystals, and milk are minimally processed without being refined or conched. The texture is “uniquely crumbly, almost cookie-like.” The fourth layer is called “5 Berry Pop” – “Freeze-dried and pulverized strawberries reincarnated into a thin creamy bark with pop rock for a bubbly appearance.” We don’t even know what the four layers of love are!
EH Chocolatier
Our graduate Chocolatier was not going to take a break after being honored as one of the Ten Best Chocolatiers In The United States by Dessert Professional Magazine. The production for Valentine’s Day was in full swing. We love their Red Hot Crunch Bars. They combine Valrhona Opalys’ white chocolate with crushed Red Hot candy, Vietnamese cinnamon, and cayenne to create a mildly sweet treat. It’s an adult version of the cinnamon hearts that you enjoyed on Valentine’s Day as a child! Enjoy this mint-flavored drinking chocolate with your loved one on a cold winter day!
